  • Demand remains strong leading up to the holiday pull.  Prices are steady with underlying strength.
  • A few growers are pushing up the prices and getting them. Bale prices have leveled out and seem to be holding steady for now. 
  • Look for double digit prices for the entire season with strong possibility of a sharp incline before seasons' end.   
  • The shortage will become more apparent in late spring.  In the interim there is plenty of strength in the Idaho deal.   
  • Burbanks are available with prices slightly higher than Norkotahs.  Organic Russets are available. Transportation remains tight from the NW.

  • Mt. Vernon District colored potato supplies remain steady. A very strong and steady market continues on all colors.
  • White volumes will begin to wind down in January.  Prices may get a bit stronger before California deal kicks in.
  • Quality and color is excellent. Yellow and Red Fingerlings are available. 
  • Eastern WA colored potatoes-Reds and yellows only-are still available. Prices are steady and supply, color/quality are good.

  • Strawberries- Central Mexico is the main growing area, cooler weather there has slowed production down some.

  • Oxnard and Santa Maria has been effected by the fire-ash and air quality. The winds from last week have done some damage.

  • Florida volume slowly increasing with fair quality.

  • Raspberries- Volume is down with Salinas and Santa Maria finishing. Mexico is going fair but any more cooler weather will slow production down.

  • Blackberries- Majority is from Mexico. Weather will slow down production.

  • Blueberries- Majority of production is from Mexico, the arrivals from Chile are still arriving on time.

  • Supplies are plentiful and is demand flat.
  • As with leaf items, most shippers are about three weeks ahead of production estimates which means a big gap is forming if the weather cools down.
  • Much of the desert lettuce is showing up ribby with some seeders.
  • Common defects include insect damage, growth crack, fringe burn, and misshapen heads.
  • Weights are ranging in the upper 30’s to mid 40’s depending on shipper, field location and pack configuration.
  • This week, expect market to rebound due to these defects.

    • There is plenty of leaf lettuce and romaine in the desert as well as in Oxnard, and with fairly soft demand, the market is low and flat.

    • Romaine heart supplies are in good shape, and we expect them to stay that way in the near term.

    • Quality is generally good although fringe burn is showing up in leaf.

    • Some lots of romaine are showing twist, but crews are working past it where they can. Markets to stay the same.

  • Navels are picking and packing. 
  • The fruit is gassing up to 48 hours but that is finally starting to come down with colder nights aiding on the natural color.   
  • Fruit is packing very clean (90% fancy / 10% choice).  Market is sporadic with prices increasing on smaller sizes as the crop grows. 
  • Sizing is peaking 72/88/56.  Color is nice and the fruit is eating well.
  • Cara Cara are off to a strong start with sizing peaking 88/72's limited on small fruit.  Color is looking nice and will continue to improve. 
  • Pack outs are clean and heavy to fancy fruit.  Available in half & full cartons as well as bags (packed to order).

  • Lemons in District 3 are done.  District 1, central Calif. is getting in picking strong with fruit still on the green and slow to color up. 
  • This is causing everyone to scramble looking to get orders covered. 
  • Market is up across the board all sizes and grades.   Quality looks very nice.   
  • Crop this year in general is reported to be off about 20% in volume as such expecting this market to remain strong for the next few months.   
  • District 2 (Ventura) is the area of Southern Calif that has been burning and at this time the effects of the fires are not completely known... we are hoping losses will be minimal.
  • Meyer Lemons are harvesting.  Look for supplies are plentiful and we are your place to be in Fresno to set up AD programs.

  • TX Ruby Grapefruit available with excellent color with fairly good volume for the next 4 months or so.
  • Sizing this year is peaking 40's with light supplies of 56's to be had.  Market is staying up.
  • Mandarins are peaking on jumbo sizes but we also have med/ lrg.   Color is nice. 
  • Fruit can be packed up for you in 25# bulk/bags and 4x5#.
  • Clementine is the current big variety.
  • Pummelos are sizing up 10/12's with strong demand on larger 6/8's. 
  • Supplies are cleaning up almost as fast as they are packing; market is increasing with heavy pulls for the Lunar New Year. 
  • We should see product through Dec.
  • Minneola's are looking to start harvest the middle to end of the week out of Coachella/Desert area. 
  • Supplies will be limited out of this area as well as when this crop moves north into Central Valley in late January. 
  • Look for the market to stay strong. Blood Oranges are finally getting started.  They continue to struggle on color. 
  • Don't expect to see big numbers for at least another 10 days... sizing will be running similar to the Navels so bigger; sizes 88/72's.

  • Supplies are tight out of Mexico as areas have are in a stop harvest mode (in the hopes of bringing up the market).   
  • At this time we will be feeling the effects with markets up and pro-rations in place. 
  • This situation is expected to last at least until the new year; possibly longer depending on when they start picking on a regular basis. 
  • Holiday demands are expected to be brisk. 
  • Supplies of larger fruit are improving slightly in volume but not enough to bring market down and will remain slow.
  • Markets have already taken a jump up for next week.   
  • Mexican crop on the tree is still showing excellent volume just a matter of picking and crossing.
  • California Hass early crop volume estimate was looking good with very light pickings. 
  • HOWEVER, with the Southern Calif wild fires in the prime growing areas this is subject to change.   
  • Normal good volume was expected to kick in early Jan. We will keep you posted as we get more information on this situation.
